One of the objectives of PAP’s flawed immigration policy is to replace its largest group of supporters with new citizens – an estimated 14,000 elderly citizens die every year. **
Because of their low education and reliance on PAP’s propaganda machine for news since decades ago, most of them are die-hard PAP fans . In 2014, there were 450,000 Singaporeans aged 65 and above.
Years before the PGP was introduced to buy over voters, PAP had already realized that they could not rely on their diminishing numbers and came up with a brilliant idea to perpetuate its power: grant increasing number of citizenships to foreigners.
Most foreigners are from third-world countries and are more than happy to support PAP after taking up Singapore citizenship.
From 1987 to 2006, 8,200 foreigners were granted citizenships annually. Shortly after Lee Hsien Loong took over Lau Goh, he bumped this up by more than 10,000 to 18,500 from 2007 to 2011 annually. ST
PM Lee had of course known this:
So, was PM Lee so stupid as to have not known that more of the same failed approach wasn’t going to work? Of course not. 😉
Increasing PAP supporter base became very easy: increase the number of new citizens.
After 2011, PAP became more emboldened and increased the annual average intake from 18,500 to 20,906 in the subsequent 5 years.
To put the drastic increase into perspective:
From 1987 to 2017, almost 400,000 foreigners became new citizens. Most of those of voting age are PAP supporters.
When the low TFR continues to decline after 3 decades – despite a drastic increase in new citizens – Singaporeans should be wary of PAP’s hidden agenda.
Our immigration policy is a very subtle way to ‘buy’ votes for PAP.
In 2016, there was a total of 14,506 deaths (PAP has refused to disclose citizen statistics separately but most are citizens)

From the age profile of new citizens, PAP is able to increase its supporter base by more than 60,000 in a 5-year period, including earlier new citizens who have turned 21.
