20161109 Pseudo democracy confirmed: voters forced to elect “reserved” President from 13% Malay community

As if KFC president Tony Tan weren’t bad enough, the PAP has now “reserved” the presidency for a Malay.

Whatever happened to “regardless of race, language or religion …”? Can anyhow chope the presidency for a Singaporean based on race? Selective meritocracy?

PAP has become a laughing stock to the world as only fools would believe in its pseudo democracy. Today it’s a Singaporean from the Malay community. Will tomorrow see voters electing a president based on language, ie speaks certain dialects understood by a minority of citizens?

Who’s going to respect such a president? And who really believes all the crap reasons put up by PAP?

A people’s president is one who has the support of the people based on merit and the choice of candidates must not be limited by PAP or any political party.

PM Lee claims that if this is not done, it “would mean trouble for Singapore – “not today, not tomorrow, but 10 to 15 years’, 20 years’ time definitely”. So why didn’t PM Lee predict our broken MRT system, NOL’s sinking by an ex paper general/scholar, etc 15 to 20 years ago and prevent this from happening?

Instead of tackling pressing issues, PAP has abused the civil service to entrench its power. No wonder Singapore is falling apart.

The latest legislation on EP is so self insulting that it would be better to spoil the vote than vote from a PAP-defined narrow pool of candidates. The world is watching to see if Singaporeans are intelligent enough to not participate in such an undemocratic process. Or we risk becoming a laughing stock like PAP.

  1. Sinkie says:

Yup I’m gonna spoil my PE vote next year, and tell all my friends & relatives to do the same.

  2. Confused says:

After tweaking the rules, the pap probably no one private candidate will be qualified to challenge whoever put up by the pap.

Therefore, even all of us spoil our votes, do you think they care? It’s a one deal.

    • Phillip Ang says:

It’s not a matter of whether or not they care. By spoiling our votes, we will send a clear message that we don’t recognise the legitimacy of such an undemocratic process. 🙂
If 50% of voters spoil their votes, PAP will become a laughing stock to the world. The last thing they want is to attract the attention of foreigners.
Every issue raised by PAP is a done deal. Their word is law: they control Parliament.

    It’s a done deal

    • Confused says:

Do you think they would be bothered if that happened?

Don’t they have already implemented many policies which have already been a laughing stock to the world?

Would paying the ministers and President with millions, the highest ever in the whole universe, not one of them?

What about the lack of transparency on our reserves which you have blogged so many times?

      Do you think they care?

I think all these years, they must have thicken their skin so much that they have no more feelings?
