Dear AC Tee

I refer to my past feedback to the Traffic Police and LTA.

While I acknowledge action has been subsequently taken, ie increased TP presence and enforcement action, this has yet to deter heavy goods vehicle drivers from posing a danger to other road users. Most of them are foreigners and they appear unable to understand TP’s message. Or perhaps they may have been instructed by their companies to flout safety rules to improve their profits?

Whatever it is, the TP cannot be unaware that these are happening on a daily basis and needs urgent attention:

Hundreds of lorries with overloaded construction material littering our first world roads but the issue is not about cleanliness: stones, construction debris, etc pose a danger to, especially, motorcyclists, including TP officers.

Cargo ‘secured’ by its own weight?

Others are improperly loaded/secured. What happens when such a vehicle is involved in an accident? Can you imagine being in a vehicle beside this lorry when its cargo topples?

I hope the TP will employ a common sense approach and not insist on educating companies which flagrantly flout safety rules. Or foreign drivers who simply cannot understand the meaning of safety.

Please refer to the above link (more images) to understand my concerns.

More sterner action must be taken immediately to eradicate such behavior. But please do this before a freak accident occurs.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Regards

Phillip Ang

  1. Confused says:

Ya. I believe LTA should also tighten up the fact that low/wide bay trailers which occupied more than 1 lane were found running on the road during daytime without any mobile escorts. This poses serious safety issues to other road users and also cause traffic congestion.

I have personally seen these a couple of times along upper woodlands road neat turf club junction.

Also, traffics coming down from SLE going to Kranji frequently beat the red light causing danger to other road users.
