Subject: 20140320 Town council’s unproductive engagement in stonewalling must cease

Dear PM Lee

I refer to my queries and correspondence with my town council (TC). (enclosed)

On 6 March, I emailed my TC four simple queries. The TC did not respond and I sent a reminder on 17 March.

Instead of the addressee responding, another TC employee replied on 18 March requesting for a meet up to better understand my concerns (?).

I replied on 18 March that in view of good corporate governance, the requested data should have already been published on the town council website.

On 19 March, the same employee responded and informed me that a manager would be addressing my concerns.

To my disappointment on 19 March, the manager did not reply to any of my queries but reiterated the TC’s wish to better understand my concerns with a meet up.

The TC could have responded via email instead of engaging in stonewalling.

Pasir Ris Punggol TC should be aware that we, the residents, are funding the TC and it is accountable to all residents. The TC has no right to query me on my intentions when I enquired about the number of blocks managed by the TC, the details of past tenders, how tenders are advertised and the actual amount of losses incurred in bad investments.

I was reading the FAQ section on the TC’s website which appears to be outdated by many years. Other than the total amount of a Lehman linked investment, I have not come across any confirmation of the actual amount of loss after 6 years!

Every resident has the right to know how much was lost with our money invested in Lehman’s Minibond Series 2 and 3. link

On social media, there are only speculations on town council losses. link The government is only inviting more speculation by having zero transparency.

Perhaps my town council did lose the entire $4 million investment and that is the reason why our S & CC is being increased? I have no wish to speculate.

Pasir Ris Punggol TC should cease engaging in stonewalling and provide me with an objective response.

Thank you and have a nice day.
