Subject: 20120227 Government should ‘reorganise the Cabinet’
Dear PM Lee
I refer to the government’s website on Cabinet ministers. (http://www.cabinet.gov.sg/content/cabinet/sitemap.html)
2 There is no standard format or guidelines and the information is haphazard at best.
3 From the sitemap, PM Lee is the only one with a Biodata link. It would be better if this is extended to all ministers. (consign boring historical detailed information to this)
a While Lim Swee Say’s, Lim Hng Kiang’s etc. are in chronological order, Yacob Ibrahim’s and Khaw Boon Wan’s are chronologically disordered.
b Ng Eng Hen, Lim Swee Say and almost all others proudly state their spouses’ names but a couple of ministers do not want to be associated with a female name.
c The public knows much about PM Lee’s personal life – widowed, remarried, children etc. As for Shanmugam and Heng Swee Keat, much is known about their academic, professional and political achievements. Do they not have a family life?
4 Khaw Boon Wan recently said that once a person enters politics, there is no difference between his or her public and private life. Should not all ministers at least provide information similar to that of PM Lee? Singaporeans need to know basic information about those serving us.
5 Information must not be haphazard. Its about time the official web page gets reorganised.
6 I believe the preferred choice of presentation would be Vivian Balakrishnan’s – stating in chronological order education, professional career, political career followed by personal life.
7 By the way, the Sitemap (copied below) stated it was last updated on 15.11.2010. Chan Chun Sing and Heng Swee Keat were not yet Cabinet members.
